About EQUI-TB


The purpose of EQUI-TB is to promote implementation of pro - poor strategies, which enhance care and support for TB among the poorest.

Research partnership

· 3 organisations in countries with high TB incidence (Malawi, Zambia, China)
· 2 UK organisations (LSTM, UCL)
· A platform of personnel and infrastructure with specified knowledge outputs. Core funding is from DFID.

Knowledge Outputs

· Improved accessibility of quality-assured TB care for the poorest
· Learn from existing programmes
· Assess mechanisms for reducing time for diagnosis
· Identify missing cases and increase access
· Approaches to reducing the threat of MDR TB
· Feasibility of depot drug deliveryl Surveillance for, and rapid responses to, MDR cases
· New Knowledge disseminated to key policy makers and opinion leaders
· Strengthened research capacity with overseas partners
